# Typography

The **Caards** theme allows you to control which fonts are used across your site. You can choose from theme fonts, Ghost fonts, or system font, depending on your preference for style or performance.

Follow the steps below to access the typography setting:

{% step %}

### Access Ghost Admin

* Log in to your Ghost Admin at `yoursite.com/ghost`
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Navigate to Design Settings

* Go to **Settings** > **Site** > **Design & branding** `yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/design`
* Click the **"Customize"** button to open the theme editor.
  {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open Theme Settings

* Locate the **Typography** option under the **Site wide** section.
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

### Available Options

* **Theme** *(default)* - Uses the fonts provided by the **Caards** theme. These fonts are included locally for optimal loading and design consistency.
* **Ghost** - Allows you to use fonts defined in **Settings** > **Site** > **Design & branding** > **Brand** > **Typography**. When this option is active, the theme's default fonts are disabled to avoid unnecessary loading.
* **System** - Uses the default font from the user’s operating system. This option improves performance by avoiding all locally and external font loading.

{% hint style="danger" %}
For better performance, when using **Theme local fonts** or **System**, make sure the **Typography** options under **Brand** section is set to *Theme default*. This prevents Ghost from loading additional fonts unnecessarily.
{% endhint %}
