# Posts per page

This theme allows you to control how many posts appear per page on the homepage, tag pages, author pages, and other archive views.

The setting is defined in the theme’s `package.json` file and does not require installing dependencies or running Ghost locally.

### Step-by-step:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Unzip the theme on your computer.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
In the root folder, open `package.json` using a code editor (**Visual Studio Code**, **Cursor**, etc.).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Locate the `config.posts_per_page` field:

```json
"config": {
    "posts_per_page": 8
}
```

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Change the value to the number of posts you want to display per page:

```json
"config": {
    "posts_per_page": 12
}
```

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Save the file and compress the entire theme folder back into a ZIP file.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Upload the updated theme in Ghost Admin using (**Theme** → **Change theme** → **Upload theme**).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Recommended tools

Use a proper code editor that supports **UTF-8** and **JSON** formatting:

* [Visual Studio Code](https://code.visualstudio.com/)
* [Cursor](https://cursor.com/)

{% hint style="warning" %}
Avoid editors like Notepad or Word, as they may corrupt the JSON structure or introduce invalid characters.
{% endhint %}
