Dark mode

The Glide theme supports Dark mode and Automatic dark mode. This option is enabled by default and works with all available Color schemes except Dark.

Follow the steps below to access the dark mode setting:

Access Ghost Admin

• Log in to your Ghost Admin at yoursite.com/ghost

Navigate to Design Settings

• Go to Settings > Site > Design & branding yoursite.com/ghost/#/settings/design

• Click the "Customize" button to open the theme editor.

Open Theme Settings

• Locate the Enable dark mode toggle under the Site wide section.

Save Changes

• Click "Save" to apply your changes to the site.

A dark-mode switch appears in the header (mobile menu) and footer, allowing visitors to toggle between light and dark modes manually. When the "Dark" color scheme is selected, dark mode stays active by default and the switch is hidden. The theme stores each visitor’s preference in local storage, keeping their choice for future visits.

Automatic Dark Mode

If a visitor hasn’t used the dark-mode switch, Glide will follow the device or browser’s system appearance setting (light or dark). Once a visitor toggles manually, that choice overrides the system preference.
